What's new with Quinn?

Since we've just started this weblog, I thought I'd give a general synopsis of what's going on with Quinn...

We couldn't be luckier, Quinn is such a sweet, happy baby. He smiles at everyone and loves being around people. His teachers at daycare call him the gerber baby. He seems to be very strong - it's amazing how hard he bangs his legs! I joke that I'm going to nickname him "Thrasher"! He's gotten a lot better at trying to communicate - he has all sorts of ways at getting his point across. When he's sleepy, he covers his eyes - every so ofter he'll peek up and if he catches you looking at him - be aware - he has a nasty glare! He loves the sound of his voice and yapps away all the time. Everything seems to spark his curiosity - sometimes he'll look over at us with his eyebrows slightly raised, as if to ask "what's that?". In case you can't tell, he's captured our hearts!

Sitting:
Quinn's newest trick is sitting up by himself! He's pretty stable and can pull himself back up from a pretty low slump. If he's laying down, he'll pull his head up to try to pull himself into a sitting position - it's so cute! The other day at school they had him sitting in a chair at the table finger painting. I saw a picture and he looks like such a big boy!

Playing:
Quinn loves to grab onto things, put them in his mouth and chew on them. He's got a pretty strong grasp - he's even pulled his toys off of his play-gym. He loves to roll-over from his back onto his belly. He's got the best laugh and giggle - especially when you tickle his belly or make funny faces or noises at him! He'll play peek-a-boo with his blankie. And he's just started clapping his hands (with help, of course). It's so much fun to play with him or watch him play. Of course, we think he's the smartest kid on the block :)

Eating:
Quinn started eating cereal over a month ago. He gets it twice a day and it seems like no matter how much we give him it's never enough - he just loves it! So far we've tried plain rice cereal, rice cereal w/bananas, and rice cereal w/apples. He doesn't seem to be too crazy about bananas but he still ate it all... When we were in Seattle, he stole a taste of my waffle cone. He licked on an edge until it was mush - he just loved it. He kept trying to pull it back to his mouth!

Bathtime:
Quinn absolutely loves his baths. He doesn't even mind having his hair shampoo'd. We leave the faucet running while he takes a bath and when we sit him up near the running water, he tries to grab it. He's just facinated by it - he'll just keep trying to grab the water and occasionally glance at us with a look like "what's going on? why can't I grab the water?" - it's so cute, we'll have to videotape it!

Sleeping:
Quinn has been sleeping through the night since we got back from Seattle (a little over a week ago). He's really starting to settle into a nice schedule. He'll eat (cereal and bottle) around 8pm, then have a bath, play a little, read a bedtime story, say prayers, and then we'll put him down in his crib. Once he's in his crib, he usually talks to his mobile, thrashes around, and rolls over at least once. He'll generally wake up crying a couple of times a night - either from nightmares or what we think it teething pain, but he usually settles back down pretty easily. In the mornings, he always wakes up in a great mood, plays, and has breakfast around 8 am.

Lucia and Quinn - Best Friends!
Quinn loves Lucia. His face lights up when he sees her. They even have their own special game - he'll stretch out his arms then she'll come over to him and lick his hands and he'll grab her face. She's really gentle with him - even when he pinches her or accidentally pokes her in the eye. It's so cute to see them together. A couple of times, Lucia's gone and laid down right next to Quinn. One time she laid her head on his belly and they both fell asleep!

Well, that's all I've got for right now. We took some more pictures the other day so I'll try and upload them soon...
