New Photos!

Quinn's photo gallery is finally all caught up! I posted the pictures for the last 7 months. I'll try to post the monthly pictures as he turns a month older (so around the 6th of every month). If that holds true, his 20 month pictures should be posted sometime early next week :) Enjoy!

Catch up on Quinn...

Wow... I've been seriously neglecting Quinn's blog... Sorry about that!

Quinn is almost 21 months old. He's a busy little guy now so it's hard to get those pretty posed pictures anymore. Nowadays you'll see a lot of activity and action. Quinn still loves balls. He likes to throw them and we are trying to teach him how to catch but he hasn't quite gotten it yet. He loves to run and dance - he has all sorts of fancy moves. He has a move that looks like the moonwalk where he glides backwards. Then he has a special sideways dance that he likes to do while he's eating his popsicles. And he's got his full-out dance moves like his daddy.

Even though "Ball" is his favorite word, art is his favorite thing to do. He loves coloring, using stamps, playing with playdoh, and using stickers but I think his favorite is painting.

I think I've already talked about this but Quinn also loves looking at pictures. The other day he was looking through a bunch I had printed a couple of weeks ago. He would point out Mommy and Daddy and Lucia and balls (if there were any in the pictures). So I started pointing to him in the pictures and asking "who is this?" - and he would answer back "cott!". That's Scott - his blond haired friend from school. Now Scott and him do look pretty similar so I can see how he might be a bit confused. But that was his answer for every single picture. We kept trying to explain that it was him and that he should say "Quinn" or "me". But he kept saying Scott. It was so funny - well I guess until he starts wondering why we have so many pictures of Scott laying around :-)

He's talking a lot more. I have lists all over with words he says but I'll try to rattle off some from memory:
Mommy, Daddy, Eeya (Lucia), Baby, Yia-Yia, Papa (Grandpa?), Ah-ma (Grandma?), Ee-O (Theo), cott (Scott), Hi, Bye, "ank ew" (thank you), peas (please), cracker, phe-pop (Freeze pop = popsicle), hot, mo mee (Oh man), Uh-oh, aree (sorry), blue, purple, ball, babul (balloon), bubble, pee-pee, poo-poo, eye, shoes, No, Nah-Nee Nah-Nee(bedtime), cup, mnmnmnmnmn... (M&Ms), melmo (Elmo), Boohbah, Duck, Gee (Geese), tree, woof, moo, meow, eeyore, book, arriba, adios, tree (three), two, boo, me, mine,...

Whether or not he can say the word Quinn seems to understand everything. And the things he picks up... The other day he found a wrapped deck of cards. He wanted to play with them but I said "Uh-oh, they're not open!"... hoping that that would be a good enough reason to play with something else. Instead he runs over to the kitchen counter, below where we keep the scissors and starts saying uh, uh, uh... I couldn't figure out what he wanted. So I lifted him up and he started reaching for the scissors. It blew my mind. First of all, I didn't know he knew that's where the scissors were, and secondly I didn't realize that he made the connection of what they are used for. Crazy!

"No" is quickly becoming a favorite word for him. He doesn't really say yes but he sure is quick to say no if he doesn't want to do something. Usually, it's "No, No, No!" with a finger pointing at you. Unfortunately, it's not very easy getting him to change his mind. He really does seem to know what he wants. We have definitely entered the terrible twos. Quinn likes to do everything himself, on his own terms, on his own agenda. Today was the first day we have been able to get him to wear a coat. And it was only cause he saw Jason leaving with one on and we didn't ask him if he wanted to wear on. Every morning we usually ask him if we can put his coat on and his response is always "no" but then we try anyway. It ends in a huge tantrum and screaming fit and him leaving the house without a coat. So today, I didn't even bother. But then he sees Jason with his on, and runs over to grab his coat. He was a saint while we were putting it on - go figure.

He's growing up so fast. He tries to mimic everything anyone does. Especially his daddy. The other day, Jason patted my back as he was walking by. Quinn struts out of the kitchen after him and reaches up to pat me as he walks bye. It was so funny. A sponge... that's what he is!

Well I hope I didn't ramble on too long. I know my stories were all over the place but I hope they give you a sense of Quinn. He's such a smart, spunky kid. We are so blessed!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Quinn had a blast tonight! He loves Halloween! We couldn't have asked for a nicer day. It's been cold here recently (in the 50's - which is cold for North Carolina :-). But yesterday things starting getting back to normal and today's high was 77. It cooled down a bit once the sun set so it wasn't too hot for costumes (like last year was).

Quinn got dressed in his superman costume - we were worried since he is so picky about what he wears these days! At first he wasn't very happy having the cape tied around his next but he got over that pretty quickly. Before we headed out we had a few trick-or-treaters stop by. It was so cute watching him stare at the kids. It took him awhile to get used to kids in costumes but he liked handing out the candy. Then we went trick-or-treating up our street. He was shy for the first couple of houses but was really excited as soon as they shut the door. He would kept looking into his sack to check out the candy. At Ben's (our new neighbor) they gave him a couple treats but while we were talking he dug back into their bowl and pulled out a sucker. He was eating it before we got down their driveway. It was a blue - that's why his lips are blue in some of the pictures.

He got good at saying thank you and bye. He loved the house two-doors down. They have a decoration that looks like a witch flew into the closed door - Quinn thought it was so cool. He kept looking up and making a "scary" sound.

When we got up to our sidewalk he didn't want to come in. He whined and stomped his feet a bit and kept pointing to the street. It was so funny. He had a lot more energy than we did! Once we got inside he was fine - cause he had all that new candy to explore. If it was up to him he would have tried all of it. He even tried asking for a popsicle! We didn't let him have too much candy (or a popsicle) but he still didn't end up eating much.

Quinn spent the rest of the night answering the door for the trick-or-treaters. He was very generous until the bowl started getting low. Then he didn't want the kids to have anything. I think one little girl was a bit traumatized because he was so upset about me giving her the candy.

He went right to bed as soon as we went upstairs. It was pretty late considering he's not used to the time change yet. He's sleeping soundly with a snickers in one hand and twix in the other. Don't worry - they're wrapped :-)

If Halloween was this much fun, I can't wait for Christmas this year!
