"That boy is THIRSTY!"
We had some people in working this past weekend so I brought Quinn with me when I brought them in some lunch. He was excited to be back at my work. He remembered coming here for the Halloween party - he kept referring to him being Buzz Lightyear. We passed one of the conference rooms that was decorated for the party last time he was there and he turned to me and said "tricker treating OVER!".
We made our way up to one of our larger labs which I thought he would be excited to see. Instead of being amazed by all the hardware, he was fixated on two oranges cones near the entryway :-)
Quinn was a bit shy when we dropped off lunch to Jose and Kavitha but he was patient while I chatted with them about our status. As we were leaving the lab he turned to me and said "That boy is THIRSTY!". He knew we had drinks (I'm not sure the fact they are free has any relevance to him) so I asked him if he wanted to bring him one... So we went to the break room and he picked out a Mountain Dew for "the boy" and a bottle of water for "the girl". Of course he scored big points and they thought he was so cute... On the way out of the lab he seemed to snap out of his shyness and started talking loudly about all the things two year olds find interesting. We stopped by my office and he got a couple pieces of candy and then he picked an orange juice to take with him.
We headed over to the rec center where there is a playground and had our lunch outside. I didn't realize they closed at 1pm so a guy came over and told us we had to leave, that they were going to be closing the gate. Quinn became fixated on the whole situation. He would say "Hurry Mommy, the gate is CLOSING!" and then a second later he would look at me with a patient, tender tone and say "Don't worry Mommy, Daddy will rescue us!"
Anyway, I really enjoyed the afternoon with him. He's such a complex little guy, I just love him to pieces!
