Visit with Santa

Quinn got a personalized visit with Santa yesterday. His friend Scott's family invited us to pump-it-up (one of those places with ton's of blow-up jumpy things. And part of the package was 5 minutes with Santa. The boys were shy at first but Santa was very nice. He recognized them by name and spent some time talking with them. When Santa asked me if Quinn had been good this year, Quinn looked over at me solemnly, holding his breath... it was so funny. Quinn really got into it and even told Santa a couple of things that he wanted. Like the OCD kid he is, he gave him very specific details... I want Ninja Turtle monsters: the guy with the big swords, the really big swords not the little swords and the girl with the yellow shirt...

Quinn's Sister - 28 week ultrasound

We just got back from our follow-up ultrasound today. Everything looked good and it's still a girl! My fibroids have remained very small (what a blessing) and the baby's growth is on track.

This baby is either really shy or likes suprises cause she refuses to be photographed. She was curled up like a little ball again and keeps her feet or hands in front of her face. It's not like she's not moving around either... she did a full rotation while we were there while somehow managing to stay in a ball. We did get a small window of opportunity where we got a couple shots... I've got those posted here:

I got back the results of my glucose and bloodwork this morning. Everything looked great except that I'm still showing anemic so they have increased my iron pills. All in all things are going really well though! Less than three months left and we can't wait!

That's just what kids do...

The other day Quinn was playing after I had just picked up. Lately when he plays he has to dump out everything, search for specific things and then leaves a mess behind. I looked over and saw him surrounded by a pile of toys. Exasperated I asked him "Why do you always have to dump everything out and make such a mess when you play?!?". He looked up at me, gave a slight shrug of his shoulders, and said matter-of-factly "That's just what kids do mom."

He just cracks me up.

Sparkles

Quinn loves shinny, sparkly things. For my birthday I got a necklace and he helped picked out the most sparkly one. When we were decorating the tree, he would only put on the sparkly ornaments. He dug through that box searching for the ones with glitter on them...

He must have gotten this from Yia-Yia...

Hair...

Quinn's always had a thing with hair but it's gotten a bit obsessive lately. From the way he explains things to us, it seems like he determines if he likes someone simply by their hair... "I don't want to play with her, I don't like her hair"... or "She's nice, I like her hair." It's all kinda weird if you ask me.

The problem is, I've been lazy and let my hair grow out. The other day Quinn told me I looked beautiful and that he likes my long hair. Knowing that I intended to get it cut I asked him what he thought about that. "You shouldn't get it cut cause then you won't be beautiful anymore.". I know you are asking yourself if he'll really even notice but I'm actually worried it will be a pretty big deal for him! What a nut!

Ready to downsize

Quinn loves to drive around and look at "Christmas"... the houses that have decorated with lights, deer, and those blow-up things. Quinn's favorite is when they put "Christmas on their houses". In fact he wants to downsize cause he's pieced together (well at least by us) that the 1 story houses seem to have lights around the roof whereas our house and the others in our neighborhood just have them on the porch and bushes.

I thought it was a pretty brilliant observation for a 3-year old!

How can he see me?

As you know, there's extra ammunition this time of year to get kids to behave... simply using the popular phrase "Santa's watching...".

Well, the first time we tried that out on Quinn (I can't remember what he was doing) he matter of factly replied back "He's not here. How can he see me?". He sure keeps us on our toes!
